Whether you organise your workspace for yourself, on behalf of an organisation, or in voluntary capacity, how you set up and run your operations will determine how much you can grow, scale and manage your workload.
Although I work 1-to-1 with many people as an Organisational Coach and as a Virtual COO, I also offer workshops and courses to larger groups who are looking to simplify the day-to-day operations in a digital world. Course outline is modifiable to the groups needs but a basic framework is as follows:
Course Outline:
Week 1: Cleaning the Laptop. Desktop and home screen decluttering, essential security practices e.g. updates, passwords.
Week 2: Files. Clean‑up of Downloads, Documents, Photos, and Screenshots, Storage management tools and settings. *This can take a while so will not get through it all in one week!
Week 3: Email. Inbox clean‑up: unsubscribing, filtering, rules, and folder structures. Email settings: signatures, notifications, search optimisation.
Week 4: Contacts: Contact management: duplicates, outdated entries, syncing across devices. Calendar organisation: colour coding, recurring events, reminders.
Week 5: Applications and Browsers. Removing unused applications off the laptop. Basics of using browsers: tabs, bookmarks, extensions, privacy settings.
Week 6: Laptop Habits. Establishing a regular monthly housekeeping checklist.
