Why does it matter how mindfulness works or why it works?

How many times have you started a practice only to let it fall to the wayside, not seeing the results quickly enough or wanting the results to be different to how they are.

Why something works is the key to understanding the why the consistency is important.

It's not important to do many exercises but important to create moments where you tune in and understand how what you're doing is making you feel.

This is what establishes a habit or a pattern of behaviour.

And so, what is mindfulness....

It's the moment where you stop, notice how and where you are, and breathe. It may be a pleasant moment, it may be an unpleasant moment, but either way, you're checking in and tending to yourself as best as you can.

You do this without asking for permission.

You do this without judgement.

You cultivate an air of curiousity about what is here right now.

So, the next time you take a moment for mindful awareness, ask yourself...

  • How am I responding to this current moment

  • How am I responding to this current conversation or interaction

  • What is the best next action for me to take in this present moment

Learning how to tend to yourself ensures regulation of your nervous system impacting your emotions, this results in healthier physiology and mental health, and all of this will improve communications with others around you.

Isn't this all reason enough?
