Mindfulness through the Ages -- Breathwork, Movement, and Creativity

Over the past few weeks I've been hosting a variety of mindfulness classes in different environments. I love bringing the accessibility of practices to all no matter what the learning environment is.
For example, working with my early learning group my intention was to simply 'be with' the kids. I quietly sat at their table and took out my little bag of tricks. One by one each one came to say hi, and see what I was looking at. Some of the kids from the previous year recognised the gong and chime balls for our listening skills. Others recognised or were curious about the expanding ball for the breathing practice.

With my Mens Shed class the focus is on mindful movement both standing and in the chair, tuning into how the body is feeling with strengthening exercises, and breathing into the stretches for mobility and flexibility. In the quiet sit at the end of class we will often practice a body scan, or I may read a poem reflecting nature or the seasons so we can connect the visualisation with the time of year we're in.
No matter the audience, mindfulness exercises can be tailored to the needs of the group. Whether in the workplace, school, or sports facility, awareness of how you're feeling will bring great wisdom to what you need to support yourself. This knowledge can support your physical and mental health.
If you’re interested in learning more please do get in touch. Or if practicing yourself start small and build up your new habit by integrating it into your life little by little.
