Client:
Male, 73 Years Old, In-Employment
Issues Presenting With:
Knee and back pain. Struggling to be consistent with exercises prescribed through another discipline. Interested to learn about appropriate prop usage and modifications to help with this integration and practice. Pain management.
In Their Own Words:
"I first attended Córa’s classes of chair yoga and found them very beneficial. However work got in the way and I was unable to attend many of her classes. I was then advised by friends for my back pain, I should try Neuromuscular Therapy. The treatment is very good but I found some of the exercises were too demanding for a 73-year-old male, with bone on bone knee joints.
I contacted Córa …… I had 2 private sessions with her and she explained in detail why some of the exercises I was tasked with
were **not suitable for me and Córa devised a set of exercises specifically for me. I am now using Córa’s exercises together with the Neuromuscular Therapy and have noticed considerable improvements in my mobility. Córa’s treatment also deals with mental side, to get you to understand your body. I also found her 3-step-breathing exercise of great help.
I highly recommend Córa’s Yoga classes for anyone, of any age, suffering from health or mental issues. In order to reconnect with your own body and mind."
**Córa: Some exercises required modification to enable the client to be consistent with the exercises to strengthen surrounding muscles, and not cause pain in the days after practice.
Approach:
I worked with the client to establish a practice that suited their lifestyle, physical ability, time available, and commitment. We looked at necessary modifications and the use of props, being mindful of what was available to them, and how to integrate all into daily life.
